Barbara Wade      Photographer and author

Picture
Barbara Wade has been taking photographs since she was thirteen, when her father gave her his old Leica camera with a cloth shutter (now long rotted) and a seperate hand-held light meter. Her father scorned Brownies and other early "point and shoot" cameras, so this was Barbara's first chance to take her own pictures, and she followed her father's example, experimenting with composition, focal points, and choice of shutter speed  and lens aperture. Recently she moved into digital photography, but her interest remains with composition and quality of light. Barbara Wade settled in Central Kentucky as a young adult. Many of the photos are from this area, but also from the American West. She is also the author of a poetry chapbook "Inside Passage", published by Finishing Line Press.

Susan Moffett - printmaker, etc.

Picture
Susan Moffett of New Albany, IN
The prints are original meaning not photomechanically reproduced from a paiting or drawing. Susan cut the blocks, inked them and used an etching press to transfer the ink to paper. Each impression is individually inked and printed. The drawings were done with prismacolor on gray canson paper (e.g. "The Shells") and black arches cover (e.g. "The Pears").
Susan Moffett's recent work chronicles places she has visited such as Ireland and Coasta Rica. She says, "In these places I continue to be inspired by the expressive gesture of a tree and the ancient solidity of a standing stone. I imagine the energy generated by these natural things and try to suggest that as wellas the physical reality in a given time and place. The natural world of line and light and organic wonder has  always moved me to pick up my charcoal or chalk or woodcutting gouge. In addition, I enjoy exploring organic form through the process of drawing and regularly return to direct observation using still life subjects."
